About the Texas Seed Trade Association

Quality seeds are the foundation of human and animal life on earth. "First The Seed" expresses the basic premise that underlies the seed industry: there is no substitute for quality seed—a fact of life dating back to the dawn of civilization when the first post-nomadic people knew it as the difference between thriving and surviving.  Quality seed is essential for the growth and development of quality crops and an abundant, nutritious food supply.

All seed producers in Texas are represented by the Texas Seed Trade Association.  Our members chartered this organization to maintain the high standard of our common code of ethics,  advocate for a just and equitable regulatory environment, ensure fair trade practices both domestic and internationally, and continue the Texas commitment to producing high quality seeds recognized the world over for excellence.

The Texas Seed Trade Association hosts the Texas Winter Seed Growouts in Puerto Rico and Costa Rica and collaborates with the Texas Department of Agriculture to facilitate seed certification.  The Texas Seed Trade Association hosts an Annual Convention and Production & Research Conference in various locations in the state.  We celebrate our successes and plan for our collective future. Our P&R offers current and future developments in seed and crop technology and an opportunity for TSTA Associate members to showcase their products and services.
